Reducing the Time to Process Grant Closeouts

The grants management world is continuously evolving with each new piece of legislation that strives for better outcomes, fiscal responsibility and programmatic accountability. New closeout services streamline closeout tasks and support GONE Act compliance.

Passed on January 29, 2016, the GONE Act requires agencies to increase the focus on timely closeout of grant programs and improve fiscal management. Closeout provides a central location to process project period, budget period and administrative closeout actions and support fiscal responsibilities.

Appreciating the challenges these requirements have on agencies, Partners collaborated with GrantSolutions to define new closeout services that streamline tasks by eliminating 86 percent of clicks and help Partners address their closeout backlog to comply with the GONE Act.

The new closeout services:

  • Allow users to perform closeouts at the obligation document number level;
  • Provide a central location to view and process various closeout types;
  • View Payment Management System (PMS) Financial Data;
  • Perform bulk closeouts; and
  • Automatically create and issue NOAs

This past December, the first phase of the limited Partner release went live with additional enhancements planned this spring.  Over the coming months, GrantSolutions will monitor the benefits of the release, evaluating opportunities to meet needs across the broader Partner community.
