As data advances, government, industry, and academic leaders are exploring how they can use emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to modernize business processes and improve program outcomes. These exploration for streamlining data and leveraging new technologies were the focus of the discussion on IT innovation and Technology Disruptors at the AFCEA Bethesda 12th Annual Senior Government Executive Dinner on Thursday, July 11.
GrantSolutions, an innovative Federal shared service grants management provider, was pleased to participate in the event. Renee Lobanovskyy, GrantSolutions Federal Program Lead, partnered with Paula Wagner, Systems Delivery Division Chief at USCIS, Office of Information Technology, for a roundtable discussion with industry and academic leaders on Data Analytics Trends, emphasizing innovative technologies, techniques, and acquisition practices used to accelerate IT modernization and improve services to citizens.
“This was an opportunity for industry and academia to learn about how we [the Federal government] are using data analytics and innovative technologies so they can match it to their expertise and share it with their organizations,” Lobanovskyy said.
Industry and academic leaders posed questions around the challenges of IT innovation and technologies and how data analytics addresses those challenges. Lobanovskyy noted that GrantSolutions’ challenge is not applying technology, but in ensuring stakeholders understand and can leverage data to its fullest value. One way GrantSolutions has been helping Federal agencies leverage data is through a new tool, Recipient Insight, which extracts data from seven different public sources to deliver the most comprehensive risk analysis tool available for safeguarding the expenditure of grant funding.
“Leveraging AI and ML to find the patterns in the data through Recipient Insight helps decision makers with making correct decisions and making them faster,” she said.
These types of collaborative discussions on streamlining data and leveraging new technologies amongst various stakeholders are an important step toward modernizing business processes and improving program outcomes as data and technology continue to advance.
